R. L’Heureux Lewis, also known as Dumi Eyi di yiye, is a young scholar with a fresh take on issues facing African-Americans and the African Diaspora. With specializations in race and ethnic relations, he concentrates his research and activism in areas such as education, youth culture, public policy, and mental health. Dr. Lewis is currently an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Black Studies at the City College of New York- CUNY.
As a scholar, his most recent research concentrates on educational inequality in American public schools. He is currently completing a research project on the experiences of low income and racial minorities’ attempts at accessing school-related resources. His wider research agenda concentrates on areas such as racial identity, youth culture, and mental health.
His commentary has been featured in media outlets such as US World News Report, Diversity in Higher Education, National Public Radio, theRoot.com and the Detroit Free Press.
